Do Boardsox surf hats really float?
Yes. If your hat comes off on a duck-dive or wipe-out it floats on the surface instead of sinking, so you can grab it on the way up. The chin cord keeps it close in the first place.
Will it stay on while I'm surfing?
That's the whole point. Every hat and cap has an adjustable chin cord and toggle so you can snug it down. No fly offs, no flop, no chasing it down the line.
What does UPF 50+ actually mean?
UPF 50+ is the highest sun-protection rating for fabric - it blocks more than 98% of UV. Paired with a wide brim or a drop-down neck flap, that's real shade for your face, neck and ears on long days out.
What's the hard-shell insert in the bucket hats?
Our bucket hats include a removable hard-shell insert that gives the crown structure so it holds its shape in the surf and wind. Pop it out for a soft, packable hat on the road.
How do I pick the right size?
Measure around your head just above the ears and match it to the size guide on each product page. Between sizes? We'd size up - the toggle snugs it back down.
